Community

Company Initiatives and Culture

Valuing people is essential to the growth of Silicon Mountain. A Values Committee has been developed in order to facilitate this growth by recognizing and promoting the company's fundamental values: people, focus, perseverance, grace, innovation and excellence. Each quarter, employees nominate co-workers they believe embody the essence of each value. Nominees receive awards and prizes at a company celebration.

Silicon Mountain subsidizes employee memberships to the YMCA to encourage mental and physical balance. In addition, a company chaplain is regularly on site to provide support to employees who may be facing a challenging situation.

Employees also take part in leadership training within the company. This training encompasses developmental curriculum through coaching and mentoring. All of these initiatives and values are clearly having an effect as Silicon Mountain enjoys a very high employee retention rate.

Volunteering

A volunteer program encourages employees to take one paid day per month to serve and develop relationships within the community. Some organizations Silicon Mountain employees have contributed time to include Meals on Wheels, Boulder Valley Humane Society, Boulder County Safehouse, Shared Parenting Program and the Woman's Wilderness Institute.

In December 2004 the company, as well as a number of Silicon Mountain employees, donated enough money to Feed The Children to purchase an entire semi-truck of needed supplies and food to deliver locally to the Boulder community.

In December of 2005 and 2006, we launched a campaign to raise enough money to buy an ark of animals for Heifer International. These animals offer hope to families worldwide who are poor and hungry by enabling them to secure food and a source of dependable income.

Tré, our CEO, personally contributes his monthly volunteer time to the Business Leaders' Community (BLC) a group he helped found that brings local entrepreneurs and small business owners together to discuss a multitude of business issues in an accountable community. Designed to help mentor leaders BLC works to create sustainable businesses that give back to their communities.
